I am a big fan of time-trialing, aerodynamic bikes, helmets, etc... Just you and your machine against the clock. I don't like drafting races where you save ca. 30-40 % of your energy behind fellow competitors.
When I saw Glenn Cook with his Scott-DH handlebar on TV in 1987, I was fascinated. Cool !!! This was the way one should ride a bike!
During fall in 1987 I made my own handlebar, and since then I have never ridden a
roadbike without an aero-bar... And I'm sure without the aero-bar I would have not started doing triathlons.
Since I'm fascinated by time-trialing, its just logical that I'm fascinated by the biggest time-trial challenge on
the planet: The hour record !
When scotsman Graeme Obree invented his tucked "Obree position (mk1)", and
then the
"Obree position (mk2)" - "Superman position", of
course I had to try these positions myself.
